If you were to look on the Aspis website, you could find that we have all of our certifications and achievements listed on our ‘About Aspis’ page. We are very proud of each one of these certifications. They show who we are as a company and what kind of things we value. In honor of Veteran’s Day tomorrow, we’re going to be talking about the V3 certification; also known as Virginia Values Veterans.
What is Virginia Values Veterans?
At its heart, Virginia Values Veterans (V3) helps employers develop and implement long-term strategies in recruiting, hiring, and retaining Veterans. The V3 Program aims to educate and train companies on why it is a good business decision to hire Veterans. The V3 program also aims to help those committed companies meet their hiring goals. Really, it’s a win-win for both veterans looking for jobs and companies looking to hire employees.
What is the History of this Program?
In 2012, Virginia became the first state to create an official program dedicated to improving the employment of Veterans by training employers on national best practices to recruit, hire, train and retain Veterans.
In 2015, V3 reached its goal of 11,000 Veterans hired through the V3 Program, 900 days ahead of schedule. The governor of Virginia then set a new goal of 20,000 by 2017.
In 2016, V3 reached its goal of 20,000 Veterans over 400 days ahead of schedule. The governor of Virginia set a new goal of 25,000 by the end of his term in office.
In 2017, the V3 Program met the Governor’s goal of 25,000 Veterans hired 159 days ahead of schedule! The Governor set a new goal of 30,000 by the end of his term.
Today, there are currently 1,541 enrolled companies with 910 more enrolled for certification. In total, V3 has helped to hire 88,448 veterans.
How Do I Get My Business Certified?
There are 3 main steps to getting certified in the V3 program. The V3 website makes it very simple and easy.
Step 1: Enroll in Virginia Values Veterans
-The V3 program will assign a regional manager to assist with V3 certification. Enrollment, Training, and Certification are FREE.
Step 2: Training
-The V3 Team puts on regular V3 employer training seminars throughout the state. They also conduct online training seminars to help enrolled V3 companies complete the training requirements for state certification.
Step 3: Certification
-After certification, your company is listed on the “Certified Companies” page. After being certified you can also apply for the V3 Grant for qualified Veterans employed by your company/agency.
As you can see, the V3 program is an incredible initiative that has helped tens of thousands of veterans. We at Aspis are proud to be certified and to have hired veterans at our company.
