The Best Holiday Attractions in Washington DC

The holiday season is getting closer and closer as we know. Like many, for us, the holiday season brings a time of excitement, cheer, and happiness. To celebrate this cheer our team decided to spend the week talking about something other than cybersecurity. We came together as a team and found our favorite attractions in the three cities where Aspis Consulting has offices. Yesterday, we posted our list of the top holiday attractions in Duluth, MN. Today we wanted to showcase the holiday attractions in Washington DC. We worked with our team and found their favorite activities that they and their families have made as traditions during the holiday season. Below are our recommendations.

#1 The National Cathedral Christmas Concert

For us, it’s not Christmas without Christmas music. The holiday tunes start playing on black Friday and don’t stop until the first of January. Where better to experience this than THE National Cathedral.  is a 200-voice symphonic, volunteer chorus based at the Washington National Cathedral. This group brings in the best and brightest vocalists from all over Washington to perform at the Washington National Cathedral. This event is perfect for all ages.

The National Cathedral will celebrate the season with virtual and in-person events this year.  Not particularly religious or Christian? The National Cathedral welcomes everyone and is a big voice in the local community from supporting the Nationals to fighting for racial justice and LGBTQ rights. This event is sure to be a festive event for everyone who attends!

#2 The Washington DC Downtown Holiday Market

With the holiday season often comes a lot of shopping. in 2020 the average American will spend over $1,000 on Christmas gifts! Where better to do you shopping than at local vendors? Centrally located in front of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery, this beloved market stretches across two city blocks! Scope out eclectic wares from dozens of pop-up tents with seasonally flavored music performed live in the background. Locally roasted coffee and freshly made Christmas treats feed the holiday atmosphere that you won’t find anywhere else in DC.

#3 Enchant Christmas at National’s Park

The most unique of our Holiday attractions in Washington DC is definitely Enchant Christmas at National Park. This is a one-of-a-kind Christmas experience that takes place inside the National’s stadium! It features a beloved light maze full of twinkling light-covered trees and enormous seasonal displays, an ice-skating trail, a holiday market, a play area for kids, and an audience with Santa himself! Expect plenty of Instagram-friendly settings and holiday spirit at this one-of-a-kind installation. This year’s theme asks visitors to go on a quest to “save Christmas” while exploring the park — and tucking into some food and drink from local restaurants. This is one of THE family destinations in Washington DC and we recommend you check it out. Tickets start at $29 a person, and anyone under 2 years old is free.

#4 The National Christmas Tree

Our last Washington DC holiday attraction is the National Christmas Tree. It wouldn’t be a Washington DC Holiday-focused list without the National Christmas Tree! The National Christmas Tree in Washington DC’s claim to fame during the holidays, and for good reason. The gorgeous conifer lives in President’s Park on the White House Ellipse, where it’s surrounded by ‘the Pathway Of Peace.’ The Pathway of Peace is a display of trees decorated with handmade ornaments from children in 56 U.S. states and territories! All of this is accompanied by nightly musical performances throughout the holiday season. Consider visiting on a weeknight or during the day when the area is less crowded. The display is free to visit and open from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. beginning Dec. 4 while the National Christmas Tree is lit each day from 4:30-10 p.m.

So that is our top 4 list of holiday attractions in Washington DC. Of course, this list could go on and on, but we must stop somewhere.
