The Best Holiday Attractions in Kansas City, Missouri

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Here at Aspis, the holiday season brings a time of excitement, cheer, and happiness. To celebrate this cheer our team decided to spend the week talking about something other than cybersecurity. Our team came together and found our favorite attractions in the three cities where Aspis Consulting has offices. We have already published our blogs featuring the best holiday attractions of Duluth, MN, and Washington D.C. – Now it’s time for the grand finale: Kansas City! We worked with our team and found their favorite activities that they and their families have made as traditions during the holiday season. Below are our recommendations:

Crown Center Ice Terrace

Crown Center Ice Terrace - KC Parent Magazine

What is more festive than ice skating during the holiday season? Just about nothing. The Crown Center Ice Terrace is the premier spot in Kansas City to throw on some skates and have a great time. Crown Center was recognized by USA Today as one of America’s top ice-skating rinks! Fun fact: Nearly 10,000 gallons of water are frozen for this wintertime enjoyment. Skate rentals, lessons, and private parties are available. Crown Center is open 7 days a week and admission is $8. The facility also offers rentals so you don’t have to bring your own skates. This is perfect for going alone, on dates, or for families of all ages.

Kansas City Plaza Lights

Country Club Plaza Lights – Kansas City IC

This couldn’t be a Kansas City holiday list without the Plaza Lights! A local tradition for more than 90 years. The Plaza Lights is a 15-block holiday spectacle on the famed Country Club Plaza. This attraction features thousands of glimmering, jewel-colored lights that accentuate every dome, tower, and window of the Spanish-inspired shopping district. Fun Fact: The only time that the Plaza Lights were not in operation occurred in 1973 when President Nixon called upon all Americans to curtail the use of Christmas lights to reduce dependence on foreign oil imports. This is a great event for the whole family! All the Plaza’s parking garages are free and open to the public.
